I don’t have the time to go thru a detox program, but I would like to take something that will increase my bowel movements. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t drink coffee. What about dandelion supplements?

Just get into the habit of taking a scoop of some psyllium based bulking agent…like Metamucil or a generic equivalent. It is absolutely safe and actually good for you to take on a regular basis. It’s unfortunate that many people look at it as a laxative as opposed to a fiber-rich nutrition product…which is really what it is.

I tried fiber and used milk of magnesia, anyone know a good simple method or product?
I’m sorry guys/gals I can’t chose which one is the best answer. ALL were very helpful. Please don’t be offended but i’m setting this question to voting. Thanks everyone.

If you’re seeing mucous in your stool, it could be a sign of a gallbladder problem (especially if you don’t drink much water or have been losing a lot of fat recently). Make sure you only drink water or juice (no soda or coffee) and are getting at least 80oz per day of these fluids to clear out your system.

I would suggest going easy on the laxatives and making an appointment with your physician.

For laxatives I would suggest a tablespoon of unscented mineral oil followed by a small glass of water. Make sure you’re getting enough fiber (maybe 20-25g of fiber daily), and cutting down on restaurant food helps too.
